Any sportsbook that offers an OVER/UNDER line for the weekend box office is just inviting sharps like us to come in and take their money, IMO. Example: World Sports Exchange. Daddy Day Care will go over 25 million. No doubt about it. It's easy money. Dr Dolittle 2 did over 25 and it was up against Fast And The Furious, and that show kicked ass at the box office. Over/Under is cake for sharps. It's right up there with taking candy from a baby.

Yes. I agree. Over/Unders is easy money. Lets hope they don't take smart pills and stop offering it. LOL.

Not really sure you are researching this very well Rod... The sequel to Dr. Dolittle was a household name -- they knew what the first one was about, and it was very well recevied the first time around... Thus, it was going to do well the second time around. Dr Dolittle 2 was also released in late June -- smack in the middle of summer so all of the kids are out of school. I know for certain that on May 9th, there are still *many* kids still in school for another few weeks. In addition to that, Dr. Dolittle 2 opened to more screens, and much bigger advertising budget. How many Daddy Day Care previews have you seen? Not many.

Your comparison to Fast and the Furious is a bit flawed, in that its not exactly the target market. People that went to see Dr. Dolittle 2 weren't going to be deciding between it and "Fast and the Furious"... One was a teenage+ movie, the other was a kid's movie.

On the other hand, X-Men 2 is seen as a "comic book movie". Granted, educated parents will know that its not a movie that young kids need to be going to see, but there's a whole lotta uneducated parents out there... My point is, Fast and the Furious wasn't going to take away from Dr. Dolittle 2's sales, but X-Men 2 *WILL* take away from Daddy Day Care's sales.

IMO, *much* better value still on the board with Hulk vs Matrix and Charlie's Angels vs Bruce Almighty.

Sound, I don't know... I'm not too stoked about the Hulk but apparently its going to be a huge success.. Hulk +22 million over the Matrix? I really can't guage this one. Charlie's Angels will be a hit, also, and we all know that Bruce Almighty is going to be possibly the biggest comedy of the year, so I'm having a problem picking between those two, also.

And seeing that the opening lines have gone from -115 to -120, it appears Olypic is losing money on these things, and is trying to balance it out somehow. For the past couple of months most of the public's favorites seem to have been winning.

Honestly I'm not touching Hulk vs The Matrix... Matrix will do well no doubt... But $22 million is a LOT to be giving a movie that has a pretty big fan following. Honestly, unless it was in the $15 million range (where I would obviously take Matrix) I wouldn't touch it.

Charlie's Angels 2 and Bruce Almighty on the other hand, I'll have a play on.

what are you taking? Bruce? I think they're both potentially 50 million openers.

Wow...anyone thinking playing the BO is "easy money" needs a reality check. Obviously, linemakers get tracking numbers before putting lines up, and if you'll notice, the O/U can sometimes fall into the hundreds of thousands within the actual gross.

If you have to play a line, the best idea is to play it as soon as it goes up and try to catch it before other smarts with the numbers beat it. And even then...hell, I do fantastic on movie awards props, but the BO killed me earlier this year. It's not easy at all.

so far I think I'm around 8-1-1 betting on the box office, and my biggest play of the year has yet to cash, X2 over T3, which is a lock as far as I'm concerned. e-z ca$h.

I agree, play I still feel pretty good about.

My movie bets so far:

[WIN ] Identity -$4 million vs The Real Cancun
[WIN ] X-Men 2 OVER $75.5 million
[PEND] X-Men 2 +$0.5 million vs Terminator 3
[PEND] X-Men 2 +$15 million vs Matrix Reloaded

One thing about Charlie's Angels. How much can it make when its fanbase is almost all females? I don't know about you guys but I absolutely have no interest in this flick. I've never seen the first one until a few weeks ago when they showed it on TV and was shocked to see how that movie was ever considered a hit. The action scenes were extremely boring and the three girls were not interesting at all. I've seen the new trailers for the sequel and it doesn't look too different from the first one. So with all that said, I don't think this will be a hit.

the exit polls for Charlies Angels 1 gave the movie an A-, which is very good, obviously. Not only chicks liked that film.
